Let’s Find Your Vocal Range | Unlock Your Voice One Note At A Time

Hi Singers!

Just like fingerprints, no two voices are the same; and that is such a beautiful thing! Many singers will compare their voices to the singers they admire, and then feel that their own voice isn’t high or low enough, it isn’t flexible enough or there isn’t enough vibrato. So many singers will give themselves plenty of reasons to dislike their own voice, and that’s a shame. Your voice is yours and yours alone, if you aren’t developing the unique qualities that make your voice special and instead emulating someone else, the world is deprived from the sole voice that is yours.

In this video, we are covering singing range and tessituras. The vocal range is the full range of notes your voice can reach. The tessitura is the part of your range that is the most resonant or beautiful.

As we go through the range, take notes of where your voice lands. Here are the ranges for the different vocal types:

Soprano: A5 (or higher) to around C4 with a tessitura around F4-F5

Alto: Maybe E5 to around B3 or lower with a tessitura around A3-C4

Tenor: G4 to around E3 or lower with a tessitura around F3-G4

Baritone/Bass: E4 to around B2 or lower with a tessitura around C3-C4

In a future video, we will dissect these vocal types even further to see where you best fit and the music you should pursue to let your voice shine.

In the meantime, keep learning, keep singing, and keep share your voice…we really want to hear it!
